NFL's New Hit Rules

As the team owners in the NFL enact new rules on hitting regarding helmet to helmet hits, is the game becoming less and less of a "tough mans game"? Not a chance. These new rules simply help protect players from unnecessary injury from thugs like James Harrison. James Harrison was one of the major players in this debate as he was fined a whopping $75,000 for a helmet to helmet hit. Lets not forget he is a repeat offender and has make his career on bone crushing collisions. He went as far to threaten retirement after his fine and the new rules implementation. Football already has a problem with concussions and other head trauma cases due to the hard hitting, but there is no place for a player who dives head first into a player who is already on his way down to the ground. Don't get me wrong, I love big hits. Everyone likes an open field tackle that knocks a guy up into the air but I see no place for the head jarring hits that have become evermore common as players get stronger, faster, and better at their sport. If you're a good, clean player you have nothing to worry about. As for the James Harrison's out there, go ahead and retire, let the athletes play with skill.

The Blogging Embarkment

As this blog begins, I ponder the idea of filling cyberspace with my ideas and my takes on miscellaneous issues and events. It occurs to me that anyone, anywhere, in any situation will be able to view my posts, as the posts will touch on the most random of topics. Whether it be a “Did You Know?” article on the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity, or a “Look Out For ___” article on the dangers of specific tourist attractions in major cities, this blog can and will touch on it. Along with random facts and statistics, don’t be surprised to see analyses of the latest movies in theatres. With movies, comes a discussion on the latest new music, whether it is mainstream or immerging artists, no one and no genre will be left out. And in the words of Mitchell Kapor, “Getting information off the Internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant.” As that holds true, let this blog be your drinking fountain.
